Project Information

The Three Millennium Development Goal Fund (3MDG) supports the provision of health services in Myanmar and will contribute towards the country’s efforts to achieve the three health-related Millennium Development Goals.

These goals include reducing child mortality, improving maternal health and combating HIV, tuberculosis and malaria. 3MDG partners with the Ministry of Health to contribute towards the development of a more effective and responsive health system.

Established in June 2012, 3MDG is funded by Australia, Denmark, the European Union, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, and managed by the United Nations Office of Project Services (UNOPS).

3MDG builds on the experience of previous health funds such as The Three Diseases Fund (3DF) and the Joint Initiative for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (JIMNCH), and complements the ongoing donor programmes such as the Global Fund to Fight Aids, TB and Malaria (GF-ATM) and the Global Alliance Vaccine Initiative’s Health Systems Strengthening programme (GAVI-HSS), by identifying and filling funding and delivery gaps to improve healthcare for the poorest and most vulnerable people in Myanmar.
