Project Information

After Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar, village economies remained depressed and the livelihood of rural households unstable. The 11-month project aimed to increase food security in the targeted areas, thereby contributing to the Millennium Development Goal 1. The expected outcomes included:

• Providing 6,821 households access to skills, resources and markets for diversified agriculture production;
• Enabling 1,116 households to benefit from skills and resources for creation of alternative income generating activities; and
• Enabling 113 communities to have increased capacity to assess and manage natural resources.
  

The project was hoped to directly impact 8,626 beneficiaries and 48,400 persons indirectly.
