Three categories of coffee products are produced in Huay HOm sub-district and are marketed by the coffee farmers' cooperative, which are green coffee beans, ground/roasted coffee and fresh coffee. However, the quality and shelf-life of the product is compromised by the inadequacy of product packaging. Improvements in product packaging and diversification of packaging options in terms of the size of the package would contribute to improved market opportunities for the product as well as improved income in the province. Support is requested through this project to promote the income of poor villagers in Mae Hong Son province through the provision of a start up inventory of packaging materials and equipment to support improvement in the quality and packaging of Huay Hom coffee, with an aim to promote its value in the market.
The project is implemented to promote the sustainable income of farmers by enhancing the quality and marketability of roasted coffee outputs of Huay Hom sub-district in Mae la Noi.
