The project aims to speed up poverty reduction and achievement of MDGs 1, 3-5, 7 in the uplands of Oudomxay through a combined effort carried by beneficiaries and supported by local authorities & NSA’s. The specific objectives are to improve food security, income and health in the poorest villages of Nga, Namor and La districts and to increase local capacity among villagers, local authorities and non state actors to support participatory development with respect for the environment, indigenous rights and gender equality. Out of the different activity groups at village level, a number of outstanding farmers are being trained to provide farmer-to-farmer extension in their own ethnic groups and languages.
