The program is engaged in training communities on nutrition, hygiene, health and general well-being. It supports women groups in taking action in all aspects of food security, including reducing diseases through better sanitation and preventive healthcare. The programme hopes to increase food production in terms of quantity and quality through more diverse farming systems in integrated upland faming and home gardens. It will also safeguard wild food as a main food source through community-based management and sustainable use practices, including fish protection zones and beekeeping. The program is also expected to boost local capacity building at the village and district level for sustainability during and after the program through village extension work, training of district staff, and improved marketing and access to markets for local farmers and handicraft producers.
