The Livestock Farmer Support Project was about € 5 million EU-funded initiative that set out to improve the livelihoods of poor rural households in six northern provinces of Lao PDR by increasing the value of their assets and agricultural output. This project started in October 2005 and formally finished in July 2010.
In the provinces of Bokeo, Luangnamtha, Oudomxay, Luang Prabang, Xayabouly and Xieng Khouang, 2,852 households participated to the project accompanied by the relevant PAFOs and DAFOs. The beneficiaries received 1,411 cattle 1,478 pigs and 44 buffaloes, veterinary training and initiation to management of the livestock funds. Two hundred eight (208) Village Veterinary Workers were trained and to continue the support to the villagers.
