In the Lao PDR, the presence of unexploded ordnances (UXO) continues to prevent the advancement of agriculture, social infrastructure and poverty reduction interventions. SDC continues to support the Trust Fund managed by UNDP, which aims at strengthening the institutional capacity of the National Regulatory Authority for the UXO (NRA) and the national clearing operator, UXO Lao. A special focus lie on broadening the partnership with NGO operators and integrating their approaches for more efficient surveys.

The project's direct beneficiaries are Lao citizens including women, men and children in the nine most heavily impacted provinces in Lao PDR.
