The development objectives of the Uplands Food Security Improvement Project for Lao People's Democratic Republic are to contribute to improved food security of rural households in selected poor villages in upland areas of project provinces by demonstrating and implementing improved rice based farming systems; and address recovery needs of cyclone-affected households in the Xekong, Saravane and Attapeu provinces.
The reallocation of funds is possible because of cost savings under components agricultural assistance for cyclone recovery and community-led recovery. Other changes include:
