The overall objective of the project is for the bamboo sector to be provided with stable and sustainable incomes and employments, contributing to poverty alleviation and conserving forest functions and upland environment in Houaphan province. It is expected that it will contribute to improved capacity of provincial and district authorities, and the emergence of local non-state actors will create a sustainable ground for co-management and co-activation of the bamboo sector development strategy.
Complementary Information
Some 6,000 households have been targeted, with the engagement of some 500 women with 30 traders and factories to provide additional or alternative income sources.
