Project Information

The goal of the project is to move from vulnerability to resilience. Success (indicators of resilience) include the ability to adapt to change, ability to manage hazards, ability to secure sufficient food, and the ability to move out of poverty. The goal is hoped to be achieved through the following objectives:

  • Increase sustainable livelihoods (Agricultural, Health, Education, Income Generation Activities (IGAs);
  • Improve preparedness for, and management of hazards & stresses (HCVA, CBDRM, District Disaster Fund);
  • Reduce future uncertainty (Forestry, Lifeskills Development); and
  • Enhance good local governance (Gender Equality, Village Development Planning, Village Development Funds, Support to Handicraft Groups).
The project methodology is mainly ‘bottom up’. This means, wherever possible, the needs as expressed by villagers, and especially by primary target groups (the poorest and women) and they are the primary determinants of decisions regarding project objectives, results, activities, and methodology.

Complementary Information

The project has adressed gender target by including the primary target groups - the poorest and women - as main project beneficiaries and participants.
