Project Information

The project aimed to contribute to the eradication of extreme poverty and hunger among small-scale farmer families in dry land areas and enhance their resilience to climate change, drought and soil degradation.

The project was specifically directed at:

Building a network among farmer organisations at the district level and integrate commune and district councils into the network;
Capacity building of local authorities on integrating CCA actions into commune investment programmes and development plans;
Capacity building of farmers on agro-forestry and sustainable agriculture innovation (rainwater harvesting, green manure and crop diversification);
Promoting market access by small farmers; and
Conducting participatory action research on local vulnerabilities to climate risks and community resilience.

Complementary Information

The project ensured gender inclusion and representation of marginalized groups in the farmer organisation set up.
