By integrating landmine clearance with community development the program objective was to reduce poverty in targeted mine-affected communities; strengthen local and provincial capacity in making decisions about mine clearance and allocation of land post clearance; strengthen local community decision-making and improve food security; provide livelihood support and basic infrastructure such as village ponds or roads; and improve agricultural productivity. The implementing NGO, CARE, partnered with local and provincial government officials and local NGOs.
