The project's immediate objectives included the following:
Strengthening and development of district and commune agricultural extension services;
Support to nutrition and food security, including educational activities;
Crop and livestock management including integrated crop management, development of cropping recommendations appropriate to project and other highland areas, development of hybrid seed production systems in the highlands, study of improving livestock production systems in the highlands, development and production of improved virus free potato and other crop seed; and
Production and marketing including the identification of economically feasible agricultural cropping models for credit schemes; organization of farmer groups for production and marketing; post harvest technology, and crop processing and market development.
