The project objective was to raise the income from intensive potato production for farmers in the project areas. The first and second phases of the project have demonstrated important achievements in this regard and contributed significantly to the potato production in Northern Vietnam.
The German Government financed the two-year extension of Phase 2 and MARD’s implementation activities with a sum of € 500,000. The Phase 2 extension focused on consolidating and promoting the sustainability of potato propagation systems; supporting the work of potato quality control; promoting the commercial potato production for domestic consumption and export; supporting activities of joint venturing and self-regulation within the industry through the Vietnam Potato Association; and other activities of evaluation, communication and consultancy.
