Project Information

The project was a "start-up phase" and a preparation phase for a more extensive development project. During the two years of this project, the foundations were placed in terms of understanding of the development approach, capacity for the implementation of the project, understanding of development needs and the gathering of baseline information. It aimed to lay the foundations for a fully fledged ADP in Xieng Ngeun District by 2006.

Its objectives included working with counterparts and 8015 community members in 17 selected villages to develop their capacity to understand and have ownership of the approaches and activities of ADP to allow it to lead to sustainable poverty alleviation and life-fulfilling transformation of the people of Xieng Ngeun particularly children. The outputs included:

• Staff recruitment and capacity building of counterpart and selected community members
  
• Community mobilization and conduct of needs assessment
  
• Implementation of poverty alleviation start up activities
  
• Evaluation of ADP start-up phase
  
• Preparation and submission of detailed ADP design.
