Project Information

The overall objective of the project was to develop the sericulture and silk unraveling industry in Yen Lac, a densely populated and poor district, in line with the plan of restructuring policy, serving the cause of rural modernization and industrialization

Its immediate objectives include the development of a material production area of 1050 ha of mulberry; achievement of a production capacity of 1,575 ha of fresh cocoon in the project area; and provision of sufficient materials for a 3A-6A high quality silk unraveling factory.

The expected outputs were to:

• Create stable job for 7,939 farmers in project area and increase their income from 235 to 441 USD/year
• Create job for 372 industrial workers in silk unraveling factory with the average income of 560 USD/year.
