The project was designed to improve physical access from rural areas of Savannakhet province with high agricultural potential to the EWEC and consequently the markets in Lao PDR and the neighboring countries. These improvements were expected to reduce transport costs and increase agricultural competitiveness and profitability.
Complementary Information
The project employed effective gender mainstreaming and all of the activities had specific gender targets. The Gender Action Plan was designed and implememted to ensure that both men and women have full and equitable access to the Project.
