Project Information

The development objective of the Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development Project for Vietnam is to improve the sustainable management of coastal fisheries in the project provinces. There are four components to the project:

  1. Institutional capacity strengthening for sustainable fisheries management. This component supports three activities: (a) inter-sectoral spatial planning for coastal areas; (b) upgrading of Vietnam fisheries database; and (c) conducting selected policy research.
  2. Good practices for sustainable aquaculture. This component supports good aquaculture practices through: (a) improved bio-security management; (b) improved seed quality management; and (c) improved environmental management.
  3. Sustainable management of near-shore capture fisheries. This component supports co-management of near-shore capture fisheries; and rehabilitation of fishing ports and landing sites.
  4. Project management, monitoring and evaluation. This component supports project management and monitoring and evaluation.

Complementary Information

The project aims to promote gender equality by offering opprotunities for women to participate in the project and to enhance their situation through multi-sectoral collaborations.
